My Actifit Report Card: September 17 2018

Hiking like a Tourist

I did a bit of City hiking by parking in a shopping mall and walking to the lab where vampires were waiting for my blood.

Since I had to go there without eating AND without drinking coffee, I filled up my veins afterward with coffee- of course, I brought my reusable cup.

Since I was close to my favorite city mountain (mine and thousands of others), I decided to take a hike. Why not? Need to somehow get those steps.

The beauty of Cowles Mountain - especially the backside - is that the first part is nice and steep and especially when you are out of shape (me) immediately reminds you that your body has seen better days.

So, today, I did the tourist hiking thing. No hiking sticks, no goal, no timer, earbuds attached with a podcast going, and coffee cup in hand. And I used the old cycling trick when the uphill is just a bit too steep. Instead of going up straight - do the zigzag. The path is longer but much easier on your knees and lungs.

I only wanted to go up the first part since - remember - no breakfast and no blood in my body - well, they left me a little. Even there, the view is a reward - if you like semi-deserts with freeways.

Back home, it was high time for a smoothie!!!!

And a bunch of water.

Feeling strong again, I dug up a bit more of the basin I am digging for my greywater disbursement. I am using the soil to build up a hugel bed towards the back of the property. Let me tell you. Buckets full of dirt are heavy!!!! And even a little hugel kultur bed takes a lot of dirt...

Well, and then, there are chickens, a mini-walk with the mini dog and whatever else a person does during a day.

Thank you so much!! I am glad that our paths are crossing again. I got so involved with the freewrite and community, that I hardly stuck my nose out - but in life in general, I decided it is time for me to go out and explore more again :)

Me too! I needed something like that. I like to be in competition with myself - and one thing that is bad about Steemit: sitting too much!!!

Right!!! It's hard to walk & type but when I'm walking & letting the actifit tracker track....I feel like in a way I am still sorta steeming LOL so I feeel double productive...or rather triple productive hehehe <333 :)

I listened to Joe Rogan. His pods are long - but sometimes, I have to mix it up from my usual learn something new podcasts :)

Check it out. I just figured out what it is and how it works a few days ago. It fits right in with my plan to get into better shape again - and I kind of like to compete with myself and keep track - so, it does inspire me. right now, I am doing intervals running at home to get to 10,000 LOL

Thank you. this is San Diego, California. I am back and forth from here to Arizona :)

I am posting some of the reports just plain actifit with no pictures. It really depends on how tired I am at the time of posting. for the most part, I will try to make it more into a post.

howdy back mariannewest! professional writer..have you had more time to write? I remember last month you were kinda frustrated because you didn't have as much time to write as you wanted.

Yes I like that you flesh out those reports a little into a more "real" post!

I am still figuring out my priorities :) And to fleshing out the post - the app allows for way more keywords or tags then Steemit does. So, if you go in and edit it, then you lose the extra keywords. Since it is a daily thing and you get the upvote and tokens for being active AND posting, many choose to just straight post.
I do too if it is a matter of getting the post out even if it is short and hitting the hay or trying for a longer post - which takes forever when you are tired and losing sleep.
I need sleep!!!!

haha! yes Ma'am I need some sleep too! yeah it's torture trying to get a post ready when you're exhausted isn't it? That does allow you to get a post out at least if you haven't had time to do a regular one, I like that about it.

Yes, me too. It keeps me wanting to move - I am weirdly competitive with myself - that I set goals and then, I want to get there. And that is important. And it gives me a post, upvotes, and tokens. All good :)

haha! hey mariannewest what about getting on the leaderboard and all that stuff with actifit? or you competitive with the other people or do you just concentrate on reaching your own goals and bettering your own performance?

And when do they start to give out or make products available to purchase with your tokens?

There is no way (well, there might be - but) that I am going to be on the leaderboard. those dudes must be long distance runners. good for them.

I am just keeping track of myself. My goal is to reach 10,000 steps or activity points every day and at the minimum 5000. So, if I had a day with lots of sitting, I will go out of my way and get up to the 5000. I have done intervals of running and walking at home to get there. But if I am at 5000 and am tired, I am not going to go crazy to reach the 10,000.

Hope that makes sense.

I have no idea if and when the tokens become worth anything besides a record of some sort of achievement. And at this point, I don't care. It is all about my own health for me right now :)
