DrugWars: The End of the Gravy Train?
Battles are back, we have a new interface at https://drugwars.io/ and everything is slow as hell!
That’s a good thing in one sense as I’m quite sure it’s because everyone is jumping on and playing. When I say playing, I mean beefing up their army.
Speaking of unit costs, they have suddenly been attacked with a healthy dose of inflation. The basic ‘Super Bouncer’ costs a lot more than he did yesterday as well as all of his other pals.
I hope you had the insight to get some beef BEFORE this all happened.
Is DrugWars a return on investment or a game? Many are treating it like the former, me included to some extent simply because REAL TANGIBLE currency is at stake. It’s just human nature and we get a bit funny when this ‘money’ thing comes into play.
But its just a game people!
Recently, the Daily Prize pool was reduced causing a lot of complaints. They have come to expect it, and so it must remain forever and ever. Not so and its going to get worse as it grows.
I noticed and mentioned to @jeezzle that since today the Heist Rewards are severely diminished. I can make a concerted guess that due to battles being back, most are stashing their drugs in the heist.
We don’t want our drugs to get nicked do we? I can literally see the Heist stash going up and my contribution dismissing. Yesterday at this early time it would have been 6 STEEM or so, reducing to 1.5 at payout.
It’s already at 1.39 STEEM and I will be lucky to get half a STEEM when it pays out.
Am I complaining? Not at all! It’s been fun while it lasted and I for one am in the BLACK and have made some STEEM from DrugWars.
Some of us got it just right like @bozz, who has made out like a bandit! Invest some to start but not too much. I did OK but invested just a little too much

Yes the gravy train has MAY have finished I fear, and now its gong to be war. Will people take offense about having their potential STEEM stolen, and will it go to flags for retaliation if things get too hot?
As I mentioned, when there’s money involved, people tend to act differently. They always say never mix business with pleasure.
Some see this as a money making opportunity, but it should be treated like a game and nothing more.
It’s going to be very interesting and very political for sure to see what pans out. The new interface? Im still not sure about it. I got used to the old one.
Despite my outlook on DrugWars, I still think it’s a great concept, you can STILL earn STEEM without any outlay and we need more games on the blockchain. It’s also FREE to play and you just need a STEEM account.

I never thought of people taking the hump at being attached and transferring said hump into Steemit and attacking with flags. Might show things up, lol

Yes i have seen lots of talk about the changes in cost for units and reduction in prize pools, I am taking iteast at the moment havent done a battle since they came back and not sure that I will for a few days watching to see how it goes
I think I am close to the break even point should cross that tomorrow I hope

I was thinking of investing in this game just recently but after reading this I am reconsidering it now. Not sure if it worth the investment. Maybe it would be a good thing to wait a little more before I pull the trigger on it.
I think this is the problem with all games involving real money and I am worried it will create flagging wars when certain people attack each other. I think everybody should off had different nicknames not connected to Steemit at all because this can create tension no doubt.

Don't be put off by having a go, you don't need to spend anything to have a look, sign up, start and make a little STEEM. That word 'investment' keeps coming up.., its just a game really. Oh and please use my referral link if you do have a go ;)
Thanks for the shout out! Trust me, it took a lot of self control to not pump more into it. Not expecting the returns to diminish I was happy to take my five Steem a day and move forward. Now given the reduction it turned out to be a wise choice. I still look forward to the day they find a game that doesn't reward those that spend the most.

No probs on the shoutout, we do chat sometimes so I get some inside info on @bozz :) This line above is interesting but I don't think it will ever happen. You get only what you put into things and that's how it is.
I think you are right. As I contemplated it more they are in it for profit. The best model for them to sustain their business is the one that has been proven to work. It is a bummer for casual gamers though.

Im not on any of the games, but I do find it funny how we humans are. People actually get upset over pennies. I mean 1 steem is only 40 cents. If folks are not here for the fun and the money as a bonus, I dont think they will last long!
LOL true, somehow the value of STEEM seems more than it is due to it being earned and hard to get.
I invested about the same amount that you did. I'm also in the black. At this point if it becomes a great game, that'll be awesome.... but I'm glad I was able to get my ROI.
I think there's still a bit of money to be made with the game, but I also think there's opportunity for the game to become a lot more than a simple ROI machine in the future.

Congrats on being in the black. I got there, too. I figured early it would be reducing substantially amd decided if I likebit a month later I may invest some more but just for fun this time. My only concern is there is nothing worth spending on now. Units are always a waste in these types of games amd priduction is too high. Maybe they eill come out with boosters or pay2win items soon enough. 5 steem for 12 hour shield and cost doubles for 12 hour extension or something.

Congrats too on getting your STEEM back. Should we really be speaking of investments though? I question myself about this constantly..' its just a game, its just a game'. I don't think this way so much about SteemMonsters, just DrugWars.
Honestly I wasn't as concerned until they turned off battles. I put in my money just before. After that happened, I wanted my money back because I felt ripped off, and I got it back so we are even, lol. Let's see if they deserve more of it now.
I think the mechanics and pay outs make people think its like an investment and not a game. Really neat concept for gaming in my opinion and it will take gaming somewhere completely new.

Yes, just that. If votes were involved that would prove some kind of incentive, but its detached from the blogging side completely.
I'm also in the green with DrugWars which is pretty nice as I did not really expect that. :D
