Eye For An Eye, Indeed
may your tongue
swell
with the weight of
the lies you tell
may your jaws lock
around the secrets
you threaten to spill
may your skin burn
with the fire of the touches
you’ve inflicted upon others
may your deeds return
and fester in your flesh
may you contain
the evil you unleashed

There is certainly something to be said for karma. I truly believe that you get back whatever you put out into the universe, and everything matters. Even the tiniest little grateful thought about a beautiful bird in a tree, or a mean sentiment grumbled at a slow driver in traffic. I genuinely love your writing. This poem is spectacular. Cheers to you! 🦋-serena
