Resource Credits - Costs and main players

A couple of days ago, I put out a post on Resource Credits and linked an easy method to use them to 'claim' accounts.

At the time, the RC cost was estimated to be 5,500,000,000,000. This morning I've claimed another account and the cost was something like 19,704,057,260,826 - 9,769,356,797,080 = 9,934,700,463,746. In just 2 days, the RC cost of claiming an account has almost doubled, and now means you need to have around 5000 active Steem Power to perform this transaction, and it looks like this cost is set to rise.

Who's claiming?

The top 10 Steem accounts by active SP are as follows: steemit, steem, utopian-io, appreciator, smartsteem, postpromoter, spaminator, mottler, dtube, oracle-d, and buildawhale.

Personally, I'm wondering why there have been 0 claims by the likes of @utopian-io and @dtube? And secondly, what the plans for the accounts are from the likes of @smartsteem, @appreciator, @buildawhale, and @postpromoter?

Would anyone care to shed some light and share some knowledge here?

Curation rewards - boom week ahead?

Since the League posts each week moved away from rewarding the best financial curators, I've spoken less about the ways to earn good curation rewards - mainly because I don't like some of the best methods to do so. Saying that, I do keep a look out on certain accounts I know of that are on the hunt for the best rewards, and do like to check up on how abh12345 is doing in comparison to abh12345.

HardFork 20 changed the rules slightly, or at least the vote timings, with regards to seeking the best curation rewards, and so this has been a more interesting time to check on how my account has been doing. Following the troubles with the Fork, and in particular the drain on Vote Power, my curation rewards took a huge hit. However, since my VP has returned to 80-90% again (and where I suggest the target should be for most), I have adjusted vote timings and think 'we' are set for a good week of rewards. The over-flowing pool has certainly helped, and so this may well be short-lived.

My daily curation rewards for the past month:

As you can see, my daily rewards were ticking along and averaging at around 4 SP for most of September. Then they fell right down during the first week of October, following the downtime and VP demolishment in the last week of September. Yesterday though, was the highest reward day of the previous 31, with 7.894 SP earned. And so far today, with around 9 hours of the day left here, curation rewards are at 4.62.

I'm hoping everyone has seen a nice boost here of the past day or two. Oh, and if you want a graph like the above, let me know in the comments. (Trying to undersell this one :P )

Positive Comments contest

The initial thoughts of a few people were that @janton would sweep the 1000 SP month long delegation, and although he was the top scorer for an hour or two, @erikah soon marched into the lead. A day or so after the contest had begun, @veryspider entered the fray, and this happened:

Personal bit at the end

I've been working a lot, split shifts too. I feel this has impacted my attendance here this past week, even though I have managed a post 8 days out of 9 and the last 4 posts have over 600 comments within. Hopefully at the end of the month I'll be back to just a few working hours each day, and I'll have more time to play here.

Please excuse my lack of commenting, and short commenting if you are lucky - I guess I wont be hitting the top ten of the Engagement League this week. Although, if the take up is good on the 'curation rewards' graph above, I could sneak a place :)

Finally, this post should tell you that I'm 'OK', despite Mallorca coming under some heavy rainfall yesterday. Sadly, not everyone was so lucky, and the reported death-toll currently stands at 9.

At least nine people, including a British couple, have died in Mallorca, in Spain’s Balearic Islands, after the island was hit by flash flooding on Tuesday night. It is one of the most serious floods to hit Spain in the past 25 years. Three deaths occurred in S’Illot, one in Artà and four took place in Sant Lorenç des Cardassar, a neighborhood 60 kilometers from the island capital Palma de Mallorca, according to emergency services. No information has been released about the ninth victim.

More than 230 millimeters of rain fell on the area in just two hours. According to a preliminary report by Spain’s AEMET national weather service, “the probability of 233 millimeters of rain falling in Colònia de Sant Pere [close to Sant Lorenç] in Mallorca, which was recorded yesterday, is one in a thousand years.”

Cala Millor sits on the coast, 3 km north of S’Illot, 10 km east of Arta (https://steemit.com/travel/@abh12345/travel-cycling-on-the-via-verde-to-arta-mallorca), and joins with Sant Lorenç des Cardassar. I was able to cycle to work in flip-flops during the storm, and in hindsight consider myself both dumb, and lucky. Sad news for the families involved.
