Tranquility in Nature

Creek Walk

This walk is so close to home it started at our front door continued through some local streets, across the railway tracks and under the bridge where we meet the creek. This is why it's one of my easiest go-to tranquil places. A short walk and you are out of the suburbs and in nature, surrounded by the sounds of the animals and running water.

creek through tree.jpg

I don't know about you but something about running water is calming for me, with the exception of when I am busting to go to the toilet and then it's my worse nightmare. This creek is a branch off of the Canning River and can vary from a placid creek to a rapidly running river dependant on the season.

creepy creek.jpg

Although, it is winter here in Australia it's been a dry start in the West, so the creek so still very low and stagnant in some areas and one of the interesting things about this walk is the vast difference between one side of the path and the other, irrespective of the seasons, one always looks like it could feature in the creepiest of horror films while the other could feature in planet of the apes.

There is also a super cool field with a community garden that grows lemons and mandarin trees that are free for locals to eat. How cool is this lemon & mandarin tree, the two trees seemed to have wound their roots and around each other and made one tree.

two trees.jpg

We also met some Fungi's that were a bright orange just chilling out on a dead tree, you have gotta love nature, where is a will there is a way and from death comes life.

The whole walk took us just over an hour and my hubby @shai-hulud hyper-lapsed the #walkwithme for you to view on Dtube. We were practising using our new DJI Osmo Mobile device we brought to chase our little man around the parks with so we apologise for the super speed of the hyper-lapse, we are still working it out, it was actually filmed in double the speed you see it at but my hubby worked his magic and slowed it down a bit so you didn't have a seizure while watching.

Make sure you click on the empty creek to view it.

To end this lovely morning walk we took ourselves to the local Dome for some breakfast accompanied but the obligatory coffee and hot chocolate, I don't drink coffee, weird I know, are you an odd adult out like me?

Your place of tranquillity

@foxyspirit nominated @youhavewings to share a place of tranquillity and to keep this new tradition going she nominate me. This was nine days ago, so I apologise for my tardiness but I had to go to a place of tranquillity to find the inspiration to write this post and it's been a super crazy busy few weeks preparing to travel to pick up our adopted son, so we only made it out this weekend.

To keep the tranquillity going I nominate @yogajill to share a place of tranquillity for her if she wants to of course. :)

As always thanks for reading and hope to see you next time.

Sounds like a great walk. Good to get out in nature (and a nice drink to finish)!

It is, very peaceful. I also had waffles, strawberries, maple syrup, ice cream and crispy bacon but didn't want to look like a glutton. lol...

I like the photos and the write-up about your place! It looks amazing especially the part about the difference between one side of the walkway and the other. I've never quite seen another place like it! Thanks for sharing this with #steemitbloggers 😊

Hey @thekittygirl thanks for stopping by. I love #steeemitbloggers. The contrasts between sides is so vast its hard not to be impressed. It still gets me everytime. In spring the stagnant side has beautiful flowers blooming in the creepyiness. Super cool.

What a sweet walk @insideoutlet! How nice to have such vast nature not far from your doorstep! Do you often pick a few lemons and mandarins for yourselves to enjoy? It is a dream of mine to have such trees with abundant fruit nearby!! (A pipe dream living where I live!) Funny thing about kids... speaking of the running waters! Ha! When my silly son was younger and he knew I was really needing to go pee he's start this rendition of 'drip drip, water flowing, drip drop....am I helping 😁!!' Oh my lanta!! Another oddity, i have an aunt & uncle that don't drink coffee! They never have! I doubt they have any equipment or ingredients in their house at all! Me, not so much! Love my cup of Joe ☕ hahaha! Thank-you for the nomination! I'd love to share my spot of tranquility! Much love & joy on your upcoming journey friend. To solidify your beautiful family. Hugs!!!!

@yogajill I love pancakes with lemon and mandarins aren't bad if they are for free, I am not a huge fruit girl although I know I should be as they are good for me haha... your son sounds like fun to be around lol.. my hubby does the same thing sometimes and also pretends to hug me while pushing on my bladder lol... We have coffee for guests and hubby drinks it sometimes, funny thing is I was a barista for years and made coffee for a living, so tried it in a variety of ways even Mocha with so much chocolate you could really call it coffee and I couldn't drink it. I don't like Trimasu for the same reason. I look forward to reading about your spot :)

Haha! Funny life it is! The bitterness of coffee isn't for everyone!! Been thinking of you on your most epic journey to grow your family. 💖 Much love friend. It's really cool to enjoy your journey as it unfolds.

Awww shucks, thanks @yogajill, its been a challenging few days but he makes your heart melt when he smiles and giggles, all we need to do is get them to outway the crying but he is doing amazingly well given that he was taken from everything he knew and chucked into a hotel with two super white people lol..

It's such a blessing to journey through this amazing exciting time with you! 💜

@yogajill ❤️❤️❤️ How have you been? I have been in and out and seem to miss you.

So good to hear from you! How are you? Still muddling through the red tape to bring your boy home? How old is he? How are you adjusting? I think of you often. I am good. Littke bit 'insideout'not quite like you but in my own way. Hoping summer will create more 'new normal' ... i guess winter will do the same for you eh?! Lotsa Love 💜💜💜

Yep still finalizing the whole process only two more meetings left. Home on Friday. Yay!!! His 15 months. I know what you mean about feeling a little insideout. I look forward to your new normal as summer comes around. Winter will bring a new normal for us for sure. His attaching well we think but it hasn't been tested yet as its really just us in the hotel. The temper tantrums are hard to deal with but the smiles melt your heart. Its hard ad we all need to attach and we are just so tired but all will be well when we get home.

Lovely! Those trees look so old and full of so much wisdom. The makings of a great place to sit and just BE. I'm realizing more and more how important it is to have vast, expansive views of nature for my overall well-being and mental stimulation; so it's so wonderful that this is right outside your home.

I just returned from living on an island where I had the most glorious views all around me. But now I'm back home and currently living in a city, without much too look at outside my window, and I'm really seeing how big of a difference it makes.

Thanks for taking us with you on your walk!

Oh wow, an Island would have been magnificent to live on although potentially restricting depending on the size. Walking and nature are a combo that can get me out of my own head an living in the present, something I struggle with some days. Where was the island and where are you now? What made you move?

I've been living in Northern Thailand now for about 3 years. But during March/April/May is it WAY to hot and smoggy, so I always leave. This year I spend some time on Bali, and then lived on the Thai island Koh Phangan for a month. But now I'm back home in North Thailand, Chiang Mai. Missing the island life, but I absolutely love my real, day-to-day life here in CM too! And the island is only a plane ride away to visit again1

@rainbowrachel Wow, we went up to Chang Mai last year I think to volunteer in one of the orphanages up there. It was very hot and super smokey. Bali is nice, we got married in Koh Samui and I loved Koh Phangan, great parties there. I went there when I was 19 and remember sleeping late and drinking to the wee hours lol...

Great place to go for a walk. Connecting with nature is the most tranquil feeling ever in this fast forward world.

don't know about you but something about running water is calming for me, with the exception of when I am busting to go to the toilet and then it's my worse nightmare.

This made me laugh more than I should have because I was reading the post in super serious mode. Lol😂😂

Haha, I am glad that it made you laugh as I like to throw a bit of humour in for fun. Plus it's true lol. Did you get the dTube to work? I always have hit and miss with dtube clips.

Lovely post @insideoutlet.

Those two different sides to the road are mad. Do you know what causes that?

Great to have all that on your doorstep. 😊

I wasn't able to view the video sadly. I've been having a lot of trouble lately with DTUbe and DLive. 😢

Yeah dTube is funny like that, sometimes it works for me sometimes it doesn't, sadly if it was pivotal to the piece I would have uploaded it to youtube but it was an experiment gone wrong as in it was way-way too fast but it was fun playing with our new mobile stabiliser. We will do it again once we are back home with our little man, who knows he may be walking, so Excited!

Almost forgot, the two sides of the road is the difference between stagnant and flowing water, there is no flow on the left side just pools that are the results of prior creek overflows.

Thanks for the explanation @insideoulet. That's amazing that there can be so much difference with so little space between them.

I'm not up to speed with you adoption story. Will try and find so posts about it. 😊

I know the first time we saw it, I was amazed, it's part of what I love about the walk, so much darkness and light in the one place.

As for the adoption I hint at it but have never written a post about it, my hubby @shai-hulud did a great one that got curied. It's linked in the footer above it your interested.

Ah. Well that's good to know I didn't miss it then @insideoutlet. Thanks for the link.

Its would be an emotional piece, I have written something plently of times but my ocd takes over and I have never got it to a state I was happy ro publish maybe one day.

No sense in pushing yourself @insideoutlet. It will be ready when it's ready. Sounds like you've got plenty on your plate at the moment. 😊

@gillianpearce yes we do, but I do enjoy Steemit, and posting, its an odd release in its own way.

Nice pictures! The creek looks like an awesome place to spend some time. The one tree almost looks like it could be a bridge. Thanks for sharing! Don't feel bad about not liking coffee. I don't really care of it either. It puts me to sleep most of the times that I try it.

Haha, that one I havent heard before it putting you to sleep. But in saying that. My mother in law has like 20 cups a day right up to bed time with no sleeping issues lol.

The walk is a pretty cool one. There are a few logs that could be bridges but they are pretty rotten so i may land in the creek lol.

Caffeine tends to have that effect on people with ADHD. It is pretty crazy. yikes probably best to stay off those logs then!

Reley guess dexies to keep you up is out of the question too. Not sure i would have survived uni without them. Lol.

Your first two shots look quite creepy, I don't think i'd be venturing there at night.

I'm following your curation account too (@asapers). Though I'm no longer plankton I just love these things, great that your doing it for the community.

Haha, neither would I but I also wouldnt walk out streets at night without mace. Lol..

Thanks for following the curation account. I really appreciate that. Im still a plankton but have high hopes. 😁😁😁

Lovely photos, and what a beautiful and tranquil walk you must always have, going through such paths. Thank you for sharing the photos and your article. It is very well done. Have a great week, and take care.

Thank you, you have a great week too. We are very lucky to have it so close by. We have a bigger family house but its further away from all these beautiful hikes so will wait to the last minute.

I think those orange mushroom might be lobster mushrooms, which are edible. Can't really be 100% sure though from just looking at a picture.

They looked poisonous to me but I'm not a fan of any mushrooms lol. Ill have to do some more research. Thanks for giving me a place to start.
