Keeping Things Simple

in #life5 years ago (edited)

The post not many read is soon to be written.
I'm already two lines deep.
Zero expectations.

Red on the Walls

There's no need to show off,

today.

The art above is simple, intentionally. Nothing special. Probably the wrong color because majority of you are into crypto and hate seeing red.

That's all I need to say about the art.

Voting strategies. So many new tribes, so many new tokens. So much confusion.

I see many of you out there making alt accounts, delegating your stake to those accounts, splitting up your voting power. I'll be taking a different approach to all this. I'll just do, whatever.

If the post just so happens to have the Palnet tag, and the Steem Leo tag, then you'll be getting one vote from me that will reward you in PAL, LEO and STEEM. There's simply not enough time in the day for me to get around to every single tribe and maximize my curation rewards. I never gave a crap about maximizing curation rewards before, so there's no sense in trying now.

There will be so many tribes, so many tokens. I'll most likely have stake in the majority of groups I'm interested in, so whatever happens, happens. Every vote will give you something, and if the post falls into all the right categories at just the right time, that vote will be boosted up in value with everything else that's slowly filling up my Steem-Engine wallet.

I've never been a fan of micromanagement. Just going with the flow.

My STEEM vote value drops as the value of the token drops, but rises with each use of the proper tag. It's all good.

Some of you out there might not even realize I've been giving you things like the PAL token nearly every time you comment. If you haven't done so yet, it would probably be a good time to check your Steem-Engine wallets. Don't expect a windfall, but do expect a small bonus.

A Tiny Bonus

Some folks don't see the value in that.

One of my earliest strategies when out marketing this blockchain to the common folk was always something like, "What if you earned a penny for every little comment you left on Facebook. You've been a member there for nearly a decade. It would add up."

That thought process is what made it so easy for me to accept 0.009 SP as a curation reward early on. To me, that was more than nothing. Now, because I allowed things to add up, I've earned over 1600 STEEM in curation rewards. Now I'll let these new tokens add up and be in the same boat, eventually. It's not uncommon for me to earn .5 STEEM each time I hit the vote button, and soon I'll be getting a raise. No complaints here.

Every single seed was planted; now the crop begins to grow.

With tribes like PAL offering 50% curation reward, things will add up a little faster. I think I can already earn about 0.5 PAL when I hit that vote button.

The more I earn, the more I can give. That's why I'm so confused when I see content producers out there calling this behavior selfish.

In many ways that proves to me the lack of understanding when it comes to this economy here. More people need to know the true greed is the one posting, demanding everyone else vote for their work, then cashing out on payday.

Anyone who follows me and pays attention to some of the advice I've passed out over the years now sees the benefits of allowing those accounts to grow over time. The more you earn, the more you'll earn. Simple stuff.

I'm Rambling

I don't feel like being a showman today.

A lot of folks are down and out about the price. That happens every day, no matter what the value is.

People were disappointed when it was $6, because it was once worth more. I once sat here, doing this, for 6 cent STEEM.

People who weren't here, back in the day, will always say it was easier to earn here, back in the day.

Working for 6 cent STEEM. No way of knowing if the value will ever rise again. Those of you who weren't here but feel like you're experts on what it must have been like back then take note: Does this feel easy?

Now you know how hard it actually was.

It's a great time to post. Earn a buck, you're getting three STEEM, plus, sometimes, other tokens on top of that.

When you really look hard at the entire picture, this all might seem hard, but it's a lot easier to earn now than it was when you thought it was easy.

A great time to work, accumulate, hold. Then the next generation comes along, and you'll have more to offer, and you'll earn more, for offering.

I don't even know if that made sense but it sounded pretty damn cool in my head.

I think I'll just leave it at that.

Have a nice day.

In many ways that proves to me the lack of understanding when it comes to this economy here. More people need to know the true greed is the one posting, demanding everyone else vote for their work, then cashing out on payday.

When I point this out - just from a purely economic/investment perspective with no mention of “greed” - I’m told that I just don’t “get it” and never will. People say that mentioning this is disrespectful and should not be tolerated. They pout and have their tantrums and threaten to leave.

Good thing I don’t care about such people and won’t censor myself because of their hyper-sensitivity and appeal to touchy-feelies.

We see eye-to-eye on this curation stuff and its importance. We have for 2+ years. I’m glad to see that it’s finally being addressed. As I’ve said many times before - I’ll drag these whiners kicking and screaming to better earnings and a better social experience if I have to. They’ll never give us due credit when it happens, but we’ll know.

Everywhere I look I'm seeing the same script being read aloud. I know for a fact I lost way more potential income as a content producer over the past couple of years under the current system, but that's not what's being said. I was out there yelling at the clouds when the value was high, because I saw the problems coming. I would have loved to have been wrong but unfortunately many of my predictions came true.

I remember being on the trending page under a Jerry post one day, talking about how ridiculous it is to encourage thousands of people to all delegate their stake to Jerry. Thousands of potential votes being concentrated into ONE paid vote. Then people sitting there scratching their heads, wondering why thousands of people are not voting for their posts.

I looked like the fool, @ats-david, because I was not earning those "easy profits." Not ONE of those people came out of that mess with a profit, unless they sold high, punishing the rest of us.

Ay-ay-ay

I could go on and on and on, for days. Two years it fell on deaf ears. Finally, some change that could potentially turn things around, provided more people have a firm understanding of this new economy we've created and have to figure out on the fly.

Never go full-@ats-david

He's one of the folks that taught me early on: It's perfectly fine to speak your mind here.

A lot of folks will say: Speak you mind and get silenced by downvotes. Myth.

A lot of folks will say: Speak you mind and get silenced by downvotes. Myth.

That generally requires you pissing off the entire blockchain, which is quite a feat in itself.

Some people have minds that are just screwed up when they speak it. They'd probably get arrested in public for anti-social behavior. That's life.

Nice to see you are still making the swirly pics.

I agree with you on the tribes, I like being able to vote them all from the same account. I did make a separate account for my own tribe, but if I didn't have a tribe I would not have bothered.

It's been awhile since I did a swirly. I'll never forget that day you did a parody of one my swirly art ramble posts.

With the tribes, with one vote, it'll balance out. Eventually nearly every post will fall into a tribe or two. As long I have stake, it doesn't matter which is being used and when, to me. There's no time to manage 100 accounts. I'm thinking of the future and just settling with simplicity. Each vote will give me some form of reward and each vote someone will get something. To me, it's all ONE.

I like using my main account as well! I do not want to juggle several accounts.

I haven't been able to curate sports lately, for instance. But I just hit one up with a 50% (actually I think it was 53%, I can't be bothered to slide that thing perfectly) and they'll get a 50% with the included 100% power, because the stake hadn't been used. Man that's confusing. Now I just staked my GG's. Soon the Creative Coin is coming, unless it's already there and I didn't get any? Not sure, but yeah you get the point. These will just be bonuses. I only have two eyes, can only see so much in a day. Besides, I could go through the effort of creating multiple accounts and maybe setting a few folks on auto, then a week later see a UI change that comes with individual sliders... because that's my luck.

On right you can see Vote weight multiplier:
Just click on it (uses KeyChain) :)

I've been trying to get to your comment here all day.

I knew this would happen!

I'll look into it when I have a moment. Thank you very much!

this is what i have been waiting for. will allow me to curate with one account on steem and the tribes in the background.

Not really into the tribes (not yet anyway) think i can be more useful on steem especially when EIP comes in.

oh the claim automation thing (at bottom of page) works also.

These pics remind me of one's my mum would do with acrylic and masses of water.

Anyway, all the little bits add up and all the little new bits that are being added will add up too. Those that got paid and sold, have less little new bits than those who earned to hold.

Oh, but how could they know that holding would attract more tokens and potential??? Ah right, all the people telling them for years.

If you aren't willing to invest in your own future, why should anyone else invest in yours?

I was going for that simple watercolor effect. Sometimes I put a little too much detail into my work. Something like this is returning to my roots. I might share some of my earliest work someday, here. The stuff I used to make before I invested in improving the quality and making things pop for a viewership. The stuff only myself and kids got to see. People liked it, when I'd show it, but it was all simple stuff that looked cool, nothing more.

Ah right, all the people telling them for years.

Those crazies... LOL!

I hope with the next generation, there's more understanding and less resentment towards those of us who actually did everything we could to ensure this place still exists. A lot of those words I'm reading out there from the disgruntled employee crowd sitting in the lunch room with no ambition to ever promote themselves equates to a tough day at the office.

I will assume that most will never know who we are, much like the inventor of the wheel.

As we spoke yesterday, the union mentality is strong. The problem is that for Steem, a little more owner mentality needs to start being exhibited. There is a chance for people o change their world, ost seem to want to complain about a boss.

Oh, you mean John Wheel? He was out there pushing his sled one day. Had to go over a log, pushed with all his might. Finally got it up on the log, the log started rolling... the rest is history. and I'm full of shit right now.

I was 24 years old when I finally figured out it was easier to become the boss than to complain about the boss.

Oh, you mean John Wheel?

I didn't think anyone else remembered the story of old John Wheel... You are like the Keeper of Legends.

I have two accounts, got the second one as my justincase account, (if I screwed up with this one), got it for the 3 steem fee before HF20 took effect, I didn't believe the everyone line, being able to create an account for free.

Voting to me is pretty simple, and as I have been getting more steem and my vote power has been growing my steem rewards have been growing. I just vote on what I like and when I see it. The one minute new rule, even though I am unsure of it, is going to be a boon to me, it means all those 1 to 7 minute votes I make will give something to me instead of the vast majority going to the content producer, (which I did not mind at all that's why I would vote early), I hated the wait til 15 minutes to maximize your rewards. I mean the vote to me is about rewarding the maker, not so much myself. Don't get me wrong, I love the kick back for liking someones work. It's not like it is a chore to click a button.

I bitch and moan and groan about the value of my account, but the truth of the matter is, I am not ready to retire from steemit yet, so the love account value does not bother me so much right now. In 7 or 8 years when I am ready to retire from steem block chain I would like the value to be a lot more, and I am sure in time the value will recover, if not, it's not like I lose anything until I decide to cash out.

I do like the simplicity look of your painting, the small touches of grey left in I think is what makes me see simplicity when I look at it. Most of your pieces will give an immediate reaction, that is what art is about, and this piece went well with your post. (at least for me it did).

I'd prefer to see people spend enough for at least a penny vote when they sign up. Especially if they're just coming to enjoy some entertainment. I'd speed up the account process and have those paid accounts ready for the user within minutes.

vast majority going to the content producer,

It actually went back into the reward pool when you voted before 15.

I am sure in time the value will recover,

All of this ongoing development during a recession is a really good sign.

When it comes to the art, I've learned to appreciate the simplicity in a piece like this. It still took awhile to make, it's not like I just slapped some crap down and called it a day. Turns out it's easy on the eyes, nobody is complaining, and I expected nothing. Everything here now feels more rewarding. The rewards, you folks showing up to shoot the shit. Everyone's relaxed. A good day.

After HF20 we were told that it was only the first minute vote that would be burned, the 2-14 minute was a lot more to the content producer then gradually becoming the 75/25 at 15 minutes. If all those early votes were burned that would not have been the intent of HF20, but intents and reality are rarely the same.

They do need to lower the threshold if they want to keep the reward system running. The dust vote level should only be applied to those accounts that have sufficient Voting SP to avoid casting a dust level vote.

It shouldn't take long for someone to work their way up from dust. But I have a different definition of what long is. Those first few months should be difficult, especially if you don't know anyone. I was such a wallflower when I showed up. Luckily I dropped writing essays and moved into the realm of bizarre, where I belong, most days. All I did that was different was: stood out, intentionally. Too many like to blend in and I nearly quit because I was making the same mistake. I'm rambling. It's late and I'm drinking coffee.

One of the reasons why I juggle several stakes in different accounts is... downvoting.

Since the mana pool is shared, I would rather not drop a full Steem downvote on something that didn't have STU attached to it.

I'm weird, so...

I see the logic there. It's good some people like to be organized. That allows the chaotic ones like me to remain chaotic.

What is the neoxian tag for? I've seen some people using it lately and don't get the connection.

www.neoxian.city Neoxian is a member here who decided to make his own tribe "because he's frikkin Neoxian" so I'll use the tag from time to time. It's another variety page, no real theme. I guess it helps add visibility some days so I'll use it, plus Neoxian and I go way back and I don't mind supporting his endeavors.

I don't really understand the tribes and the delegation thing. I still write what I write, share what I share, and use whatever app I remember to use. I love to earn and I love that my content is censorship resistant on Steemit and Whaleshares. Will I ever get rich from it? Probably not. Money is not my motivation for participating. I love the cool people and I love the platforms that let me be authentically me.

The tribes are something to look into. They talked about communites and SMTs here for years and that's basically what it is.

Who is ngc and why are they flagging you? For some reason I always thought that was a bernie account, but he's never had a beef with you...Can't keep up with who's who.

Your end tag line is a bit ironic considering lol

I was juggling witness votes around, lost internet connection, went to sleep, woke up to that. He probably would have got it back but now I'm kind of on the fence about it. I change those votes from time to time, I only have 30 and use them all so in order to add someone new, I have to remove one. He once told me he didn't mind so I thought he wouldn't mind. It just a misunderstanding but I'm not going to bring it up with him, and I still have to finish moving a few votes around but I'm trying to do the Saturday thing as well. Just bad timing, my luck, whatever. Not a big deal.

agree with you there are many many new tokens are releasing every week and it is lot of confusion.

Thank you @eveuncovered for resteeming this funny entertaining cunt (it's a compliment).
