The music of the muse rings in your words. You don't struggle for symbolism. It is natural to you. The words form as from a spring. You are, I have said it before, a natural poet. No matter how much money this gift does or does not bring you, use it. Share it. It's remarkable.

Hi @agmoore

Sorry it took me so long to respond to this comment, I’ve been dealing with some real world (none-steem) things which took me away from the internet.

Yeah, symbolism does seem to flow with me when I'm really waxing poetic. Ha ha, it's probabl y something to do with my checkered past. lol my youth was full of mind bending substances which may have been of some small benefit when writing poetry.

But credit to fiona for her awesome photo, the poem was definitely born from a combination of that awesome prompt picture and a moment of pure inspiration. All that imagery about the dying gods and storm seemed to fit with the turbulent, past and new beginnings of the south African democracy.

Thanks again for checking out my post :-)

I love this line: "The sky flames azure as gods die."

Cool that you were inspired by post. It was an awesome post.

Thanks again for checking out my post m8 :-)

Wonderful poem, @raj808, and it really goes nicely with the accompanying photo.

In the faces of abandoned gods
blue thunderheads inflame rain,
mourning echoes of the land's pain.

Nice.

Amazing picture, @fionasfavorites. It's so cool and eerie that there is someone walking along the road.

Awwww, thanks @jayna

I have been struggling to write poetry the last 3 months, discount the last 2 weeks as it's come back to me somewhat ;-) But after such a long break I wondered if I'd lost my edge. It seems people have reacted well to this and my other poems the past few weeks so I'm gonna stop worrying lol

Thanks again for checking out the poem :)

Awesome poetry to reflect feelings from that wicked sky, the contrast of colour well captured in photography.

Yes, the picture and that sky were completely the catalyst for that poem. I would never have written it without seeing Fiona's post. This type of happy circumstance is one of the coolest things about steem for me.

Thanks for checking out the poem :)

We all experience that real life with things we should have done yesterday. Have a wonderful day.

The sky flames azure as gods die.
Lightening breaks, a beating drum
heralding all that has gone…
to renew in times to come

There is something rather powerful about the first spring time thunderstorm. You certainly did the sky justive with your words. Awesome, Raj:)

Second that. And that blue is amazing!

Hi @prydefoltz & @mayb

P.s. Prydefoltz, I'm always encouraged that it's a good poem when you give me possitive feedback as someone who has been on steem for as long as me consistently putting up high level poetry :-)

Hey @raj808, in what dimension are three days a long time? :) All good! Hope you got it all sorted. Have a wonderful day.

Ahhh ... Thank you:):):) You got me smiling, Raj. Been concentrating more on haiku and photography these days. But I did complete 100 days of poetry. So glad I did that. I really should do some extended peices though. Soon:)

Hope it is smooth sailing for you now:)

@raj808

I keep on telling people I don't "do" poetry, but this poem, I got. I really did.

I especially liked

Lightening breaks, a beating drum
heralding all that has gone…
to renew in times to come.

That is kind of how one has to feel, and I still do when I go to vote in our young democracy. And in a largely parched part of the country, the promise of rain....

I am thrilled and honoured that my impulsive snap inspired your poem.

Fiona

You are more than welcome @raj808 and I'm glad that I got the meaning behind your images.

Oh, and I just saw that you got noticed by c-squared! That's great!

I love how you write your poetry
The flow of words .... the words
It paints its own picture 🥰

I'm so glad you enjoyed the poem @kaerpediem :)

you are welcome and yes photos can be quite inspiring.

I don't want to repeat what everyone is saying here but then I would be lying if I said anything against what they are saying. That is beautiful! Well done! I love how we can be inspired by others and vice versa. How awesome is this web connection of creation!

Never be sorry for the things you need to do in your life. There is always a chance to reply. Time is just an illusion for our bodies but not our spirits ;)

I agree with you on that. It definitely is the coolest thing on Steem among a few others. A great place to be.

You are welcome, much respect to you!

It is pretty well-thought of poem @raj808 I just can feel the rain, thunder, and lightning in your poem :P
