Tree Tuesday with a Little Tuesday Orange

in #treetuesday5 years ago (edited)

St. Lucia. The most mountainous of all the Caribbean Islands. Volcanic island. Oh, the natural beauty of it. Rainforests to hike through and discover another side of nature. Plunging cliffs that take your breath away. Winding roadswith hairpin turns and single wider roads. Hang on!!

Welcome to #TreeTuesday by @Old-Guy-Photos! Where every tree has meaning. Let's see your trees! You know you want to!

IMG_6715.JPG

I was driving through the countryside, taking in the lush beauty of St. Lucia, when I passed a banana farm and knew I had to stop for #TreeTuesday to get a shot. They have them in the blue bags to prevent black spots on them as they ripen. If a green banana rubs up against another, it will bruise. Also, they are sprayed for mites and the bag helps keep them safe from them. I am not sure how I feel about that! Technically, bananas are not even trees!! Who knew??? I just found out that they're perennial herbs.

These are typical West Indies style housing with the pretty color dotting the landscape.

Soufriere is the town that you see below the tree line. It makes a nice backdrop of the Pitons, the rainforest and the sea. Undeveloped and lightly populated, it is located in the southern part of the island. Trees are in abundance here!

IMG_6725.JPG

Quaint little fishing village, surrounded by a forest of trees and palms and banana trees. There were boats pulled up to shore and fishing nets being dried in the sun. And the people. The people were beautiful. Simply beautiful

IMG_6734.JPG

He lived in the fishing village and worked here, in this artists shack, which were dotted along the roadside everywhere I drove. He took out his guitar and seranaded us with his Bob Marely songs. Oh, yes! And then he showed us his artwork, as we looked down at the town. So much talent here. So little opportunity.

Villages with boats, yachts and fishing equipment. What a life, no? And TREES! There are trees all over the place!

There is a meltoff upon my arrival back home. One day a frozen tundra and the next day 70. The trees did not appreciaate this. Especially my red Maple.

Flowers. There must always be flowers to color my world.

This is my contribution to #TuesdayOrange #ColorChallenge by @Kalemandra. Throw a little color her way!

Somewhere
A symphony plays
The strings of my heart
Passionately
Harmonizing
Making
Music to my eyes

A giant tree for good measure! Thank you for taking the time to do #TreeTuesday with me! Much appreciation to all. Have a great night from here!

Don't ever forget what a wonderful world we live in, people. Let's hold hands around the globe and make this earth really spin. Some days, it is not as easy to see, so we must try harder to give everyone the proper focus.

Later that night
I held an atlas in my lap
Ran my fingers across the whole world
And whispered,
"Where does it hurt?"
It answered,

"Everywhere"
"Everywhere"
"Everywhere"

Oh I never knew they had to bag the bananas. they sure do have the prettiest colored houses down there! Wow just trees everywhere!

Oh I see how you had to get that little zinger in about 70 degrees all the while the Old Man is freezing his tuchus off!!! Oh yes that is mean and low pool right there LOL!!

Great photos. Each one better than the rest!!!

Seriously!! Would I do that??? Never.

Well, hardly ever. The bananas? that is something they do to keep them from bruising and the bag also keeps whatever they spray (who knew?) for the mites. So, now, of course, I only buy the organic ones. After seeing that for years, I won't buy the regular ones.

No zinger!!! I was telling you what it was like to get home from Paradise and have to put up with Camelot again! :)

Next week I will be a little more organized. I promise.

Such a beautiful series of shots I love those colorful houses, I remember somewhere in my travels I saw the bags over some fruit on the trees it may well have been bananas I remember being intrigued when I first saw them and I had to find out about them

I did too! I remember the first time I saw them, it was really strange to see them bagged. I also remember one of the poorer islands didn't bag them. It could have been Africa as they also do the blue bags. I am not sure about Southeast Asia.

I love the houses too and all of the Caribbean has their share of them. Happy little places to live in. The people living in these places are just as happy as their houses are.

Thanks for stopping by!

!tip

its always a pleasure to visit ;)
I do believe it was in Uganda that I saw them, I was looking through my photos as I thought i had shots of them but I couldnt find them so I am not sure where it was

I have seen it in many places, but, lately, I have seen it in almost all the places that grow them.

Sign of the times?

I guess it could well be a sign of the times :)

Just as I thought. When I cannot give a reason for something with my kids, I always tell them that it must be a sign of the times.

Works every time. :)

Lol me to I use that saying a lot 😂

I don't know, JJ @tattoodjay... Does that mean we are getting old?

I love the perspective on your photos and I totally would love to go to the West Indies.
!tip

The West Indies are still unspoiled on many of the islands. Unfortunately, we Westerners have ruined some of the beautiful peace.

The perspective is fun to play with.

Thank you so much for your words and for the !tip !!

How convenient that the bananas go to the store already in the bag. LOL...I didn't know nanners weren't trees.

Love those colorfuls houses again. I wish we did our houses colorful like that here. I think that would make the atmosphere, in general, happier. I'm sure the snobbys wouldn't like it .....but who cares about that ?? ! Not me.

Unhappy red maple, made great photo.

Oh, my!!! Nanners have never been a tree. What kind of science class did you take? Hehe... I didn't know that either. LOL

The entire Caribbean is filled with pretty little colorful houses. I am sure that is why they are happy people. Well, that and no snow shovel in their garage, for sure.

The snobbiest make theirs colorful down there. Big and colorful. But we may have better snobbys!

!tip

I didn't take no stinkin class..... oh wait..... maybe that's why I didn't know....LOL !!!

I need to move there. First I need to rob a bank... THEN I'll go. 😂

How about a visit first? We should meet up and hop a cruise ship then sail around the entire Caribbean.

Yes!

Then you can rob the bank.

And dont forget to stowaway the Old Man too! You know you all want to! ;D

We may have to split you up between us. I'll take half and she can have half. How do you want to be divided??? Don't get too picky. It's gonna hurt anyway. ;)

Really? Cant we use an over-sized bit of luggage? Yikes! If its going to hurt, I may have to think about this a little longer...Hmm, maybe we can do a GoFundMe??? Less painful that way!

Man up, sugarbritches.

Ohhhhhh thank you m'am.

Denise, when I first looked at your first image, without reading the article, which is what my 'creative' self always wants to do, I thought the bananas wrapt in the blue bag was some exotically coloured hanging bat ~ Not an uncommon sight in the tropical section of our Botanical Gardens ~ Only they are a dark grey. Shows how quickly associations come to mind.

Love all the images here as they really give an overall impression of what it must be like to be on the island of St. Lucia. LOVE the coloured houses and the red maple meltoff too. !tip ♥︎♥︎⚖️♥︎♥︎

Oh!!! When I read that about bats, I remembered the bats in Panama and Costa Rico... Oh, they were in my laundry room which was in the garage! Oh, yikes!!! I am freaked by the sight of bats and I know this is not at all rational, but, fear usually isn't. LOL

Panama had so many bats that I actually hated to do laundry!

Thank you so much for the visit and I apologize for the late reply! St. Lucia is a lovely place. I think you would love it! Have a most amazing day!

!tip

No apology ever needed Denise. Bats in the laundry room would totally freak out any rational being I know. The associations are so strong in us. 😊

The bats in the Botanical Gardens were eventually evicted, after debating with conservationists, as they were carriers of the Hendra virus which destroyed many of the old palms, trees and plants.

But where I really love to see the bats, is at dusk as they appear out of the distant sky and swoop down and over the local lake. Unfortunately, it's too dark to photograph. Such a magical sight and feeling. Have the most wonderful week Denise. ♥︎♥︎⚖️♥︎♥︎

Oh!! I lived in San Antonio, Texas for two years and that is where they had a real bat show (well, Carlsbad Caverns was amazing until I discovered there were BATS in the Cave!!)

Oh, Google it! It used to be an amazing sight! Have a great week, Ally~

It is always a pleasure to see your post. These photos are wonderful and this island is so beautiful😍😍😍

Well, it is always good to see you, Denise! @denissemata

Oh, you know how beautiful St. Lucia is! The Western Indies are almost in your neck of the woods, where it is so beautiful and the houses are painted up all pretty! I just love how they are all different colors and so happy looking.

I hope all is well with you and that life is good!

!tip

Thanks for your good wishes. It's so true the houses are so beautiful with those wonderful colors💖

Aren't they? I was so enchanted by them the first time I saw them! They reminded me of the colors of sherbert!

:)

If it made me so happy to see your post and all those beautiful colors. Sometimes those little details make our lives happy🙌💕

Yes! I agree!!!

I am also not that sure what I should think of those bananas. My first thought was that it's too much plastic. I wonder if they can't fix the bruising issue somehow differently. It must be somehow possible..

I love the landscape! It's so unusual. The mountains look steep and difficult for hiking.

I'm sorry to hear about your maple. It sounds like a huge change in the temperature.

Your photos are great and your text is nice to read.

Thank you for sharing and have a nice day!

I know! The dilemma with the bananas! I have seen more and more using the blue plastic. White plastic means something else. (I forget at the moment)

I do love the landscape and it is very steep and hard to hike, but, beautiful all the same. The maple has since recovered and is used to the drastic changes of winter.

Thank you so much and I am sorry about the late reply!
