Capturing the Light

in #photography5 years ago (edited)

Have you ever wondered what it would be like to open the door, to someone else's life? See what they see, where they live, what their day is about? What do you love about your life and if you could share some moments, a snippet or three, what would you share?

What about me?

I get up early, every day, no matter what time I go to bed. Tired or not, I don a pair of shorts and a shirt and hit it. I have just started to run again this week, not every day, but, for now, twice a week for now. This is because broke my distal fibula more than a year ago and I was actually a little terrified of reinjury until now. I feel more confident and it is stronger than before.

There is still a chill to the morning, but I grab my running shorts and shirt, pull on my socks and lace up those runners up. I take the vase of flowers downstairs for more water, they were a pleasant surprise left after a visit, delicate spring blooms, their aroma filled my sitting room adjacent to my bedroom. I spy my iPod and look forward to the high-tempo music that sends my feet into overdrive.

I run through the Civil War Battlefield, on the peripheral of the neighborhood, the wet grass glistening in the sunlight. A sweet greeting, it takes my breath away. So beautiful. So quiet. These moments are all mine and I look ahead and watch as I see the sun, lifting itself in the sky of baby blue, and I am thankful for the many days of beauty, these moments, these truths. This day. And I realize that it is so important to be in each season relishing those moments of pleasure and looking forward to great things for the one coming next.

I would love to hear a snippet of yours. Feel free to use the comment section. Why? Because I do. It's true

I want to capture the light as it all spills out - in a bold way, straight from the heart.
Radiating love as is shines out from you.
The light shines eternal, caressing this love
Capturing the light as it shines out from you.

Only do not forget
The passing beauty
Of the swiftly fading dream

That beautiful flower, just showing off, is dedicated to #TuesdayOrange #ColorChallenge by @Kalemandra. She colors our world on a daily basis. For me, for you. It's true.

Listen to the music in your heart and the soft whispers in your soul, letting the moment cover you in a blanket of delight. Each day is a unique instrument in the symphony of your life.

Thank you for visiting my post 💖 Because of you, I come back to post again and again, I am encouraged by you, for the time you take to visit, comment or even upvote. For all of these reasons, I am eternally grateful. Don't ever forget what a wonderful world we live in, people. Let's hold hands around the globe and make this earth really spin. Some days, it is not as easy to see, how wonderful it really is. Kindness counts. Wherever you go, whatever you do

Later that night
I held an atlas in my lap
Ran my fingers across the whole world
And whispered,
"Where does it hurt?"
It answered,

"Everywhere"
"Everywhere"
"Everywhere"

This is such a cool post. You know I am your biggest fan and I read every word of every post, and this one is a perfect example of how you are growing and evolving your blog day by day!!! It really has been a pleasure to see.

Yes I think it is really neat to get a peak into the lives of our favorite friends on the site. Like you say to get a glimpse of a part of their day.

My perfect day starts with this:

And ends with this:

I swear, I always bust a gut when an OGP candid pops up on my screen as I head downwards. It's kind of like opening an un-expected Christmas present in March.

It really is, even for me!! Those expressions that he leaves behind, right? LOL I especially like those pretty in pink fingernail polish and the Fiber One deal.

OGP is a star in his own right!

Ah, my friend, your words are too kind lol. Much obliged.

Well, thank you, as always for such a kind and heartwarming comment. You always seem to say almost the right thing! You don't practice or anything, do you?

I have finally gotten tired of my own posts and needed to do something to change. We will see how it all feels after a day or so of it. You start your day with Fiber One and end it with WINE (served in a giant water glass!!!!) Ummmm. did we forget we are on a diet?

OMG You little cheater! :)

!tip just for your honesty

Well yes I do practice...on restraint LOL. I mean I have never been one given over to use the least bit of flattery even though I hear it will get me everywhere!

Oh well you know, I have just been following your lead, Coach ;P

Yes! I have been leading down the wrong path on eating! :)

Snickers? You know you can't just eat one!

OMG are you confessing there was more than the one I saw?!? OMG fess up!! I bet you think a little run in the morning brings absolution??? Hmmm?

Go for a walk, old man. You need some fresh air. ;)

@old-guy-photos,

All's well that ends well ... so if that's a glass of Merlot!?

Quill

Hey Quill it was actually,

P1110748.JPG

But I much prefer

@old-guy-photos,

Hey Ol' Guy.

I know Menage a Trois ... it's a good wine. I don't have a mental connection with the other two. We get into habits with wine, don't we? Once we find a few that work, they become our habitual choices. It's only when other people force the issue (by serving different wines) that we 'discover' other great wines.

Quill

Oh do yourself a favor, friend, and get yourself some Lambrusco. Inexpensive and slightly sweet which makes it oh so pleasant and quite dangerous :)... Surely this will be a reminder from childhood...

@old-guy-photos,

I do recall "Riunite commercials" from childhood but they left an-other-than-intended impression. Chinsy.

But ... given that I know for a fact that the Ol' Guy is a connoisseur of all things that taste delicious ... I'm in.

Quill

You are such a bright, fresh dose of sunshine. Every time.

These days I'm taking better care of myself. This morning I even did a Tabata workout before my usual yoga practice. I'm working on every level, paying better attention to my nutritional needs, my mental talk, and, yes, I went shopping for the full effect of a makeover. Sometimes seeing a new item of clothing in the mirror helps me feel new as well. Every day, every moment is a choice. The great thing is, even if I've fumbled choices in the past, or not had the energy/motivation/knowledge to choose what's best for myself, I can make a new choice now and moving forward. ;)

There you go making me smile, again and again. I am so happy that you are working out along with yoga! As you can see, I am soooo far behind on my comments. Yours is the very last I have to backtrack on.

Isn't that terrible? Yikes! Three days! Happy St. Patrick's Day! 🍀

Every day, every moment is a choice and the choice is yours. And every day is a new beginning. I am so happy to see you moving forward. It is like getting a breath of fresh air to read that.

Keep on, Keeping on, my sweet.

"Each day is a unique instrument in the symphony of your life". That says it all and beautifully I might add.

You are so sweet and kind to me !! Thank you so much! You do know the magic of making a person feel good!

When I first got out of the service (back in July of 94) I got up everyday... put on sweats combat boots. Did pushups and situps, then ran two miles. After awhile, I thought...

you aren't in the Army any more. What are you doing

I should have kept doing it maybe, but that was then... this is now. My son tells me you have a quote from his favorite video game.. No Man Sky....

Time to sleep; beautiful creations, post, and message...

Thank you so much for the words, Wes! they are always so heartwarming.

I don't find anything wrong with keeping fit as you did! Sure, you weren't in the Army, but, you were still in need of keeping fit, right? Meh, things change and times change. But, I will keep on going until I can't. I actually like it. :)

I have a quote from No Man Sky? Which one?

Thanks for stopping by and giving us a snippet of you!

!tip

As we discussed...nothing in relation to No Man Sky...

Keeping fit is indeed a good thing; but as you said, things change, and lord knows times change... perhaps I will post some more of my poetry, or maybe a work out video...I mean after all...

If Richard Simmons can do it...

That sounds like an excellent plan!

I stopped running in 1980 after a serous bike prang Lady Denise. Spent 2 years in plaster and have now in my 60s learnt to accept it!
Now I spend my free time like this!

https://steemit.com/photography/@papilloncharity/a-lazy-hot-sunday-afternoon

Blessings!

I totally get it, Stephen! @papilloncharity I broke a bone and was off running for over a year, so it is a big adjustment, but, I have learned to accept things I have no control over.

I can see you have too~! Thank you for the link! I will over to check you out~

Your snippet of life sounds so pleasant, quiet and peaceful. I could almost feel that chill in your mornings. As for me it is quite how should I say.....monotonous. Wake up at 4:00 am, turn of the alarm around three times before I completely get up. Eat breakfast and take a shower. Start up the van with my hair still wet and drive to work in this early time of day. The cool morning air dries up my hair a bit and once I get to work, 9 hours I struggle to get thru the day. The highlight of the day is coming home. Although it is hot outside my heart skips a little bit faster knowing I'm on my way home.

I have to say that your reply made me smile!

Wake up at 4:00 am, turn off the alarm around three times before I completely get up.

Right there! Turning off the alarm three times before you get up. Like a planned conspiracy! LOL It doesn't sound monotonous, it sounds like a schedule. Even my day gets like that, I just gave you the good snippet. And yes!

I agree with how we suddenly feel energized when we are on our way home again! I love your fun times at the @watersnake101 household! Especially around the holidays when Mama plays the games with you! That was so much fun!!!

Have a most amazing day!

!tip

Hahah and tomorrow I will turn off the alarm again three times lol. I guess you are right it is more of a schedule but I am hopeful that things will change in a few years. I will be trying my hand at farming this year hopefully it would turn out good but without quitting the job for now lol. So that alarm clock will continually be turned off three times every weekday lol.

How exciting that sounds! I wonder if that will be a harder life or a more relaxing, enjoyable type of life for you?

I guess one will not know until you start, right?

Good luck to you! I know you will do well in it!

As always a great post ;)
I do miss running but the injuries i did to my knees when I was about 18 and then in my twenties, really come back and haunt me these days, and i just cannot run, but I do maybe whatis the next best thing and like getting out for morning walks to start the day
I do miss running even though its probably 10 years since i last did a real run, but one just has to do what one can do

We all get to the point of doing in our knees, I think, although, I feel luckier than most that mine are and always have been fine. I do believe in genes in this case. I know so many that have a tendency towards knee problems, which isn't the case with my family. Nine kids and everyone is a runner with good knees.

Although perhaps I don't need to jinx it!

You may not run, but, you put some serious miles in! Which is what I did when I was recovering from the broken distal fibula. I found that I enjoyed walking almost as much as running and in some ways more because I could stop and note where I was to come back and take a picture or snap one off on my cell phone. So, it really was a beneficial time in many ways.

Sometimes when we allow the choices that have been made for us to happen, life is so much better. I hope you are having a most wonderful day!

!tip

Yes I do walk a lot it’s not surprising I feel it in my knees now I smashed bit kneecaps badly at 19 and was told I would need surgery and may never be able to run again during my basic training I snuck out 3 days later and did the Battle Fitness test a 10 mile run march with full kit and then an obstacle course passed the test but probably messed up my knees more and was carried back to the hospital as once I finished and sat down I could not stand back up

Never did the surgery but built myself up and did probably 10 more marathons and 3 triathlons before getting married and having kids slowed me down I loved bed running from about 14 I used to run on average 10 to 15 miles every day and during off season of Rugby and Soccer I used to do one long run on weekends of about 4 hours but never tracked how far it was.

and now my knees just won’t let me run anymore 😂
Yes walking is good for stopping and seeing the sights of course

Dude!! You were impressive. Fact is, you still are, but, holy guacamole! Way back when? You were unstoppable. Although, somebody should have!

Oh, wait! They did try that and it didn't work. Sometimes you hardheads just do more to prove that you can. Well, you did, in fact! LOL I am amazed that you still carried on after all of that and that you never were forced to get the knee surgery, (I say forced as in your body didn't break down to the point of walk or no walk)

Oh, I bow down to those knees! They have endured more than a mere mortal should ever be able to contend with!

Walking is good for stopping and seeing the sights! Yes!

For the most part my knees are kind to me if I am kind to them and these days I am good to them
I don’t know what drove me to run back then I know initially it was training for Rugby but even when I stopped playing I kept running I know I thought running was ok just for exercise since no one tackles runners
Sure they needed ice after a long run but we needed ice anyway to keep the beer cool 😎

The only time I feel my knees fir the most part is I I get down on my knees to get a low shot for a photo some days getting back up is tough but I manage

Oh, yes!!! That is a hard one! I have seen many photographers barely crawling up and believe it or not, half your age. Not that you are old or anything.... Looks innocently away

Oh, don't you sound just like a typical man. I need ice to keep the beer cool. Aha! Yes. That!

I am glad that your knees are still good to you and just know that there are things that you avoid doing to not irritate them. :)

I hope you have hopped the train already and headed East!

Yes on the train now been so busy this week lunches have been short so sneaking out to catch the 4pm train 🚂 so in Ct already and nit to many stops till home 🏡

Do you get more than 20 minutes? Oh, I want your job!!!

Ohh and I forgot Of course your weren’t saying I’m old just like a good wine I am well matured lol

Yes!!! The early train isn't as slow! Good for you!! Sneaking out! Oh, thief!!!

Oh, never too old unless you turned to vinegar! LOL

Mornings are the most important time to get yourself ready for your day. This sounds like a great morning routine to keep the mind and body alive. These little peeks into peeps lives are always so interesting. Steem on :)

Thank you! It is a wonderful feeling to get out there and punch up the adrenaline! Plus the routine of it all really makes it enjoyable. The only thing that gets in the way is to work some days. ;)

Don't we all dislike when that happens! It is one of the most fun things about steem. Peeking in on another culture or life, well, and collecting that steem!

Have a most wonderful day!
